Management Consultant

All consultants aim to grow your business and generate higher profit, but Knowhowe is primarily focused on removing the obstacles to order of magnitude growth. By identifying the barriers and opportunities ahead of time, together we can create better strategies to take your company to the next level.

Over the years, I have noticed that companies struggling to break through fall into two broad categories: those whose offerings have a strong value proposition that needs to be better articulated, and those with a weaker value proposition seeking ways to strengthen it. I assist both groups by clarifying the competitive situation and addressing the underlying challenges they face.

There’s an old adage that ‘those that can do and those that can’t teach’. There is some truth to this when it comes to management consulting, because it’s easy to propose solutions and difficult to implement them. Professor Michael Porter of Harvard Business School found that 90% of failed initiatives were due to errors in execution rather than strategy. Consultants produce deliverables, but it’s you that has to perform the execution. In selecting an external partner, consider whether that person has executive experience as well as business insight. I’ve been equally successful as a management consultant and as a senior executive, so perhaps I can walk the walk as well as talk the talk, and when it makes sense, I will roll up my sleeves and help implement the recommendations I propose.

Every assignment is unique, but my approach to working on strategic issues usually follows these general steps:

1. Situation analysis 5. Recommendations with rationale
2. Definition of objectives & metrics 6. Implementation plans with timelines & actions
3. Research & analysis 7. Measurement, evaluation & learnings
4. Alternatives & decision criteria
